摘要
《理解当代中国:英语读写教程》不仅是开展英语类专业课程思政的有效途径,也是践行“跨文化思辨英语教学”理念的重要阵地。思辨能力培养作为教材特色和编写理念之一,贯穿全书10个单元的主要活动设计,培养学生开明公正、谨慎深刻、逻辑完备的思辨品质和高阶思维能力。本文基于孙有中“思辨英语教学原则”,提出该教程的思辨教学需要采用显性教学和探究启发式教学的原则,建构以思辨能力为导向的评价体系,从而实现思辨能力与跨文化能力、研究能力以及英语读写能力融合发展。
Understanding Contemporary China:A Reading&Writing Course serves not only as an effective means of conducting ideological and political education in English professional courses but also holds a pivotal role in implementing the concept of“cross-cultural critical thinking in English teaching”.The cultivation of critical thinking ability permeates the main activity design across its 10 units.To equip students with the capability to effectively tell China’s story to the world,it becomes imperative to foster qualities such as open-mindedness,fairness,prudence,depth,and logically sound critical thinking.Additionally,honing higher-order thinking skills is essential.Building upon Sun’s(2019b)principles of language and critical thinking integrated teaching,this paper advocates for the incorporation of explicit teaching and inquiry-inspired teaching methods in the critical pedagogy of the course,as well as the establishment of a critical thinking-oriented evaluation system to achieve the seamless integration and development of critical thinking ability,intercultural competency,research skills,and English proficiency.
