基于体认翻译学的宋词隐喻英译研究:以《许渊冲经典英译古代诗歌1000首:苏轼诗词》为例 被引量:1

A Study of English Translation on Metaphor in Song Poetry from the Perspective of ECT:Taking Version of Classical Chinese Poetry:Poems of Su Shi Translated by Xu Yuanchong as an Example

摘要 有关隐喻翻译的研究已有较多的成果,但从体认翻译学角度研究的却很少,尤其是有关许渊冲古典诗词的隐喻英译研究。有鉴于此,本文以《许渊冲经典英译古代诗歌1000首:苏轼诗词》中的隐喻为语料,在体认翻译学框架下从语言、认知、现实三个层面分类分析其中的隐喻英译策略。研究发现:语言层面的隐喻英译占比最高(55.07%),着重基于体认的普遍性原则,隐喻概念可直接映射到译语中,翻译策略主要涉及直译喻体;其次是认知层面(31.89%),主要基于体认的差异性原则,隐喻概念既有部分或完全向译语映射,也有消除隐喻概念的映射,翻译策略为替换喻体、本体替代喻体、译喻体时补充喻底和明喻替代隐喻等;现实层面占比最低(13.04%),主要基于体认的缺失性原则,涉及添加时空语境和史实信息的翻译策略。认知和现实层面的翻译可分别总结为“认知+选择三要素”和“认知+创造”译法。 There have been a lot of studies on metaphor translation,very few of which are conducted from the perspective of Embodied-cognitive Translatology(ECT),especially on the English version of the classical Chinese poems translated by Xu Yuanchong.In view of it,under the framework of ECT,this paper explores the English translation strategies on metaphors in the Version of Classical Chinese Poetry:Poems of Su Shi Translated by Xu Yuanchong in terms of classification of linguistic,cognitive,and realistic levels.The findings are:The English translation of metaphors at the linguistic level is the most(55.07%).Based on the universality of embodied cognition,the metaphor concepts in the source language can be directly mapped onto the target language,mainly involving a literal translation strategy.It is followed by the cognitive level(31.89%),which is principally based on the differences in embodied recognition.Concepts of metaphor can either be partially or completely mapped to the target language or be eliminated.Translation strategies at this level include replacing the vehicle,translating the tenor,translating the ground,employing similes,etc.The realistic level,mainly based on the absence of embodied cognition,accounts for the lowest proportion(13.04%),involving strategies of adding contextual and historical information.The strategies of metaphor translation at cognitive and realistic levels can be summarized as“cognition+selection of three elements”and“cognition+creation”respectively.
