摘要
典籍术语在典籍中占有重要地位、起着重要作用。典籍翻译不仅要考虑到术语的准确表达,还要兼顾其系统性、动态性和多维性,涉及概念的、语符的和交际的多重因素。本文从典籍术语翻译的本质特征与内在要求出发,分析《吕氏春秋·劝学》篇核心术语在三个英译本的不同表现,认为典籍术语翻译应注意概念的凸显性、语符的规范性和交际选择的层次性,三者相互依存、相互制约,唯如此,才能助推中国优秀传统文化的海外传播和中国国家形象的塑造。
Due to the important status and function of the terms in Chinese classics,a good translation of Chinese classics requires not only the accuracy in expression,but also the systematicness,dynamics and multidimensionality in distribution,which involves the factors including conception,symbol and communication.This paper,based on the expounding of the substantive characteristics and intrinsic requirement of the term translation in Chinese classics,analyses the three different English translations of the core terms in"Encouraging Learning"of The Annals of LüBuwei,concludes that the three aspects—prominence in conception,normalization in symbol and hierarchy in communication—should be attached much importance,which are interdepended and conditioned upon each other.Only in that approach can it be helpful to the dissemination of China’s excellent traditional culture and the building of China’s new image in the world.
