A total of three rectangular-shaped shaft-pit tombs were excavated at the Laoniupo site in 2010.The burials are all small-sized single tombs without any ercengtai second-level platform and waist pit.Burial furniture was not found. The three tombs are relatively well preserved.Burial goods include three-eared jars,double-eared jars,single-eared jars,angular-shouldered jars, and ripple-rimmed jars with or without ear handle. These tombs were also characterized by the inclusion of stone bi disk in the burial goods. The ceramic vessel assemblage includes elements from the Qijia culture,Erlitou culture, and the Keshengzhuang Phase-Two culture. The authors suggest that the tombs should date to the early Xia period. The discovery is of great significance in understanding the distribution of archaeological culture during the Xia period in Shaanxi Province and providing physical evidence for studying the interaction between the Xia Dynasty culture with othe contemporary cultures.
