With the improvement of people’s quality of life, residents’requirements for drinking water quality are also getting higher and higher.Through the water quality survey of samples from water distribution systems, secondary water supply systems and renovation unit for 22 months, this study identified the safety risk in water supply water quality mainly existed in the secondary water supply, and the water quality safety risk in the secondary water supply is mainly the microbial safety risk, and this risk can be reduced through the optimization of the water supply material.Aim at improving the water quality, this paper carried out a renovation project in Community A to renovate its secondary water supply facilities like pump houses, building pipelines and neighborhood pipelines. After the renovation, the average turbidity, and the average total number of heterotrophic bacteria colonies in the water samples of water supply terminals decreased from 0.267 NTU and 125 CFU/mL to 0.202 NTU and 85 CFU/mL,respectively,and the average residual chlorine concentration increased from 0.421 mg/L to 0.470 mg/L.The proportion of turbidity increase and the proportion of residual chlorine attenuation in the secondary water supply stage decreased significantly compared with before the renovation. Thus, the biological safety risk of the water supply water quality in Community A was effectively controlled.
