The 'Five Elements' inscribed on bamboo slips is believed to be a work by Zisi, justlike 'Black Clothes' and 'Duke Mu of Lu' which also unearthed from Tomb 1 at Guodian,Jingmen, Hubei. All the writings are considered the chapters of Master Zisi. Since MasterZisi was lost as early as the Southern Song dynasty, the Guodian document has a recogniz-able significance. The Guodian version of 'Five Elements' is largely similar with its silk counterpart un-earthed at Mawangdui. They offer us a new look at the Zisi-Mencius school of Confucian-ism.
