摘要
本文在时浙江省5个地、市的120家外贸、金融等部门进行了广泛深入的问卷调查及访谈的基础上,就“入世”时大学英语教学的影响进行初步的分析,预测了这些部门在“入世”后对所需专业人才英语能力及知识需求的变化,并对大学英语教学如何顺应这一重大的社会变化,改进教学提出了若干对策。
This paper attempts to predict the impact of Chinas coming entry into the 'WTO' on college English instruction, based on the statistical analysis of a study of 120 financial institutions, foreign trade companies, high tech companies as well as 320 individuals in Zhejiang Province. The results show that there exists a gap between college English instruction and social expectations in terms of users practical knowledge and skills. Some pedagogical implications have been provided with a view of meeting the challenges of the social changes which are likely to be brought about by the countrys accession to the WTO.
