The study of the origin and ecological effect of regional Cd geochemical anomalies are a hot topic in multi-target geochemical survey now. But many problems are still unclear. This study indicates that regional Cd geochemical anomalies are formed by natural geological processes and are mainly controlled by the mechanical composition or grain sizes of soils. The cumulative process of Cd follows the mechanics of adsorption and deposition, thus determining the relatively high content of the Cd active component in soils and resulting in the presence of the Cd content surpassing the state standards in some crops. Further study shows that the ecological effect of Cd anomalies differs from area to area and changes with the cultivation manner. This provides a basis for the rational layout of crop growth.
