摘要
本文根据功能翻译理论的一些基本原则和方法,区分了限制性定语从句的修辞功能:定义/限制功能和描述功能。若是前者,不论从句多长,都应译成前置定语,放在被修辞的名词前面。若是后者,应根据主句和从句之间的语义逻辑关系进行翻译。
Basedon somebasicprinciplesof thefunctionaltranslationtheory,thispaperdividesthefunctions of restrictiveattributiveclausesintothatof definition/restrictionandthatof description.If it's a definition,it mustbe translated into a pre-attribute,putbeforetheantecedent,whetheritis longor not.If it's a description,it shouldbetranslatedaccordingto thelogicalrelationbetweenthemainclauseandtheattributiveclause.
