摘要
指称是语言的一种主要功能。本文从指称定义出发,依据莱昂斯有关实体的理论,对指称词语与四级实体之间的关系进行了分析,指出指称关系不仅存在于语言形式与外界三级实体之间,同时也存在于语篇内部语言形式之间。正是语言形式这种第四级实体与另三级实体之间的指称关系构成了语篇内部衔接的前提。
Reference is the most essential function of language. The present paper, based on Lyons?theory on different orders of entities, attempts to point out that linguistic forms are themselves the fourth order entities. Hence reference exists not only between linguistic forms and the other three orders of entities but also between themselves. It is the latter that makes co-referentiality or coreference a presupposition of discourse cohesion.
