International Cooperation: The Road for Indian Institute of Technology to become a First-class University

摘要 本文考察了印度理工学院各分校通过国际合作,在联合国教科文组织、前苏联、德国、美国等援助和帮助下,大力提升教学和科研水平,迅速成为印度和世界一流理工大学的过程,从而揭示出借助世界最先进的高等教育的经验和支持,走国际合作的道路是创建世界一流大学的捷径之一。本文还就印度经验对中国的启示作了分析。 The author probes into how IIT became a world-class science and technology institution through the mechanism of international cooperation. With the assistance of UNESCO and the nations such as USSR, Germany and USA, IIT made great progress in its teaching and research standards, hence it soon grew into an institution with worldwide reputation. This, the author argues, could be a short cut for higher education institutions in developing countries to achieve the status of world-class universities. The author further argues that IIT's experiences are highly relevant to the situation in China.
