摘要
基于有些文物翻译中,存在忽视这一特殊文体的特性,过于强调译文的“信”,从而影响其可读性的一事实,本文通过对湖南省博物馆文物翻译中的几处较典型误译的分析,指出:在处理文物翻译这种特殊的文体时,如果“信”与“达”矛盾时,译者应遵守“达”为先的原则,才能达到最佳的译文效果。
Faithfulness has been unduly overemphasized in the translation of names of cultural relics, which has often resulted in poor readability of the translations in the target language. This paper makes an analysis of typical mistakes in the translation of names of the cultural relics displayed at Hunan Provincial Museum and concludes that expressiveness should be prioritized over faithfulness to ensure fluency of translation in addition to a clear transference of meaning.
