Abstract A control study was made with 45 Cases of migraine with flsming up of the liver fire, 35 cases of migraine with liver depression, 9 cases with liver depression and 31 healthy persons, using the Minnesota multiple-phase personality investigation (MMPI) table. It was found that there was marked difference between the MMPI graph of migraine patients and the healthy persons,with the graph of those with liver fire deviating more markedly than the graph of those with liver depression,accompanied by marked increase of F, Pa (6),Sc (8) and St (0). There was similar deviation on the graph of those with liver depression but without migraine. The authors believe that the different types of liver disease are specifically manifested on the MMPI graph and that the deviation in personality of migraine patients might not be the specific change of migraine.
