his paper describes the temperature rise test during braking process for the brake rings and brake blocks made of different material at various starting braking speeds in the field, measured relationship between the speeds and the oil film thickness of the thrust bearing of the hydrogenerators during their stopping. The breaking causes of the brake rings of the hydrogenerators and their treatment methods are found.
