摘要
中国已有一批具有百年以上历史的近代大学。这些百年大学的文化风格、文化传统和精神的传承和形成,大多受益于著名校长的学识修养、人格魅力和办学理念。在交通大学,唐文治把“以明德为先,科学尚实”作为大学的使命和教育宗旨。唐文治先生以其深邃的教育思想、丰富的教学经验、对教育事业的忠贞不渝的追求以及为国储才的献身精神,为交通大学“爱国爱校,追求真理,勤奋踏实,艰苦朴素”的校风和“起点高、基础厚、要求严、重实践”的教学传统的形成,为交通大学发展成为国内外著名的理工科大学奠定了基础。
China has a group of modern Universities with a history of more than one hundred years. The formation and carrying-on of the cultural style, cultural tradition and spirit of these one hundred-year old universities are most benefited from the learning culture, personality charming and school-running ideas. In Jiaotong University, Mr. Tang Wenzhi, a former president, advocated “ putting morality comprehension in the first place and doing things scientifically and practically” as the mission of universities and tenet of education. With his profound educational thinking, rich teaching experiences, boundless loyalty to the educational cause and self-devotion spirit to store talents for the country, he had laid up a foundation for the forming of the school style of Jiaotong University to “love the country and university, pursue truth, be diligent and practical, and work hard and live plain living” and the teaching tradition of having “a high start-point, solid foundation, strict requirement, stress on practice”, and for the carrying-out of the goal of developing Jiaotong University into a university of science and technology well-known both at home and abroad. t
