摘要
文化研究的方法极大地推动了翻译研究的发展。但这同时，有学者却注意到，目前的研究方法似乎越来越远离了翻译研究本题。因此，赵彦春提出，翻译研究须从文化派的注重边缘表征研究的方法。回归到对贯穿翻译始终的规律和制衡机制的研究上来。这也即是归结主义的方法。在本书中，他还提出了翻译的两大原则，即关联原则和趋同原则。
Translation studies have achieved great development under the paradigm of cultural studies. Yet some researchers think that it is going astray. Zhao Yanchun argues that, translation studies should come hack from the cultural paradigm that lays too much emphasis on the peripheral elements, and return to the laws and controlling factors that are always there in translation and translation studies, which is what he calls the reductionist approach. In the book, he also proposes two radical principles that should be observed in translation： relevance and convergence.
