The major satellites of Saturn were observed with the CCD detecter equipted on the 1.56m astrometrical telescope at the Sheshan station of the united laboratory for optical astronomy during the period of 11 to 14, Aug., 1994. The preliminary analysis of these observations shows that the accuracy of inter-satellite positions of Rhea,Dione, related to Titan,is 0.12″,equivalent to a distance of about 700km from the Saturn. Therefore these observations are valuable to the investigation of the orbits of the Saturn's satellites.CCD chips are superior to photographic plates due to their high quantum efficiency and accuracy.Besides, the CCD observations and reduction are easier to be conducted, compared to the lengthy reduction process of photographic plates. Therefore CCD chips would quickly supersede photographic plates as a prefered medium for astrometry of planetary satellites, just as photography superseded visual micrometric methods in the 1960s.Our observing programme on the major satellites of Saturn and Uranus using the CCD detectors equiped on the 1.56 m telescope at Sheshan station or on the 1 m telescope at Yunnan station of the united laboratory for optical astronomy has been conducted since 1993.The investigation on improving the methods of CCD observation and data reduction to raise the accuracy further will be continued in outer to contribute more to the studies on the further improvements of the orbital elements and theories of the satellites of Saturn and Uranus
