After the World War II, the unique financial structure of Japanese businesses had led up to a long-term transaction relationship between banks and corporations. The sustainability of the relationship is guaranteed by the Japanese main bank system and the self-constraining mechanism of companies. This analysis shows that the sufficient directing and monitoring from banks, which function as financial succors, is the key to the effective restriction mechanism on the credit relationship between banks and companies.
