CALL Research Over 10 Years: Retrospective and Prospective Analyses

摘要 本文对最近10年(1997—2006)刊登在10家中国外语类CSSCI核心期刊上有关计算机辅助英语教学研究的文章进行了统计与分析,总结出目前国内计算机辅助英语教学研究的特点:①进入21世纪以来,我国计算机辅助英语教学研究呈大幅度上升趋势;②从研究方法上看,非实证研究占绝对优势,但实证研究也有较为显著的增长;③从研究内容上看,主要涉及5大类,包括计算机辅助英语教学的理论探讨、课堂实践、计算机网络环境下的师生研究、计算机辅助语言测试、计算机多媒体网络技术与软件等。最后,文章分析了目前研究中存在的主要问题,并提出了相关的建议与对策。 This paper presents an overview of the development of CALL research in the past ten years (1997 - 2006). Based on the previous studies published in the most influential ten foreign language journals in China, features and tendencies of CALL research are explored and summarized: ( 1 ) 21 century sees a steady increase of research in CALL; (2) In terms of research methods, non-empirical studies predominate over empirical studies, with the latter on a striking increase; (3) With respect to research areas, five are identified, namely, theoretical discussions relevant to CALL, classroom practice of CALL, the positioning of teachers and students in CALL, computer-assisted language testing, and the development of computer technologies and software. Finally, the problems in CALL research in China along with suggestions for further improvement are raised.
