Surface modification of polyacrylonitrile membranes by direct amination has been studied. The membrane was firstly hydrolyzed with NaOH solution, then treated with 1,6hexamethyldiamine(HMDA). Amino amount on the membrane has been measured by titration method. It showed that —NH2 amount varied with hydrolyzation conditions and HMDA concentration. Results of water absorption and contact angle showed that the hydrophilicity of aminated membrane was better than that of original PAN membrane.
