摘要
高校的价值追求只有具体化为校园文化活动才能发挥教育作用。美国大学在使命宣言中表达了服务、博雅、公民责任、全球性、多样性、领导能力和共同体意识等价值追求。为了实现这些价值追求,美国许多高校在物质文化建设、仪式的塑造、荣誉规则的确立、服务活动的开展和宿舍文化的营造等校园文化建设方面采取有效的措施,形成有学校特色的校园文化,从而在培养学生的公民与道德素质方面发挥了重要作用。美国高校的这些做法值得我国高校借鉴。
Values imbued in mission statements of tertiary institutions take effects merely through reification in campus cultures. Mission statements found in American tertiary institutions bear such values as service, liberal arts, civic duty, globalization, diversity, leadership, and a sense of community. In order to realize the mission goals, many American tertiary institutions take effective measures. They construct physical cultures, establish rituals and honor systems, provide services, and promote residential culture. In so doing, values pursued in the mission statements are represented in campus culture. A study of these measures will be beneficial to the construction of campus culture in Chinese tertiary institutions.
