Is there the character zhang （章/璋） in oracle bone inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty？ If so, what is its form？ These questions have been debated among scholars for a long time. On the basis of previous scholarly research, the author gives proof by way of word form, context and archaeological findings, arguing that A in oracle bone inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty is exactly the character zhang.
