摘要
将多媒体技术应用于地理信息系统中的关键问题是：如何有效地管理多媒体数据和空间数据；其次，在区域分析过程中，怎样实现多媒体播放功能．指出用扩充的关系数据模型作为多媒体数据模型较适宜；多媒体功能的实现则取决于多媒体数据的格式是否为ＲＩＦＦ格式以及对多媒体数据的应用要求．最后展示了多媒体技术在地理信息系统中的应用前景．
The key to applying multimedia technology to geographic information system is: how to effectively manage multimedia data and spatial data, how to realize the function of multimedia data in the process of area analysis. The paper points out that it is more suitable to use the expanded relative data model as multimedia data model, and then relates three technology tactics of expanded relative data model. The realization of multimedia function depends on the multimedia data format — RIFF, and on the applying demands for multimedia data. It also presents the prospective of applying multimedia technology to geographic information system.
