Ultrafine copper chromium oxide catalyst was prepared by using copper ammonia complex solution precipitation method, and the catalytic activity and selectivity were evaluated at low temperature (≤110℃) and low pressure (≤6 0 MPa) in liquid phase. Effects of various preparation conditions on the performance of catalyst were examined, and the optimum preparation conditions were determined. The results demonstrated that the catalyst not only has higher catalytic activity (the space time yield of methanol is more than 98 g/(L·h)), but also has higher selectivity for methyl formate (more than 20%). The particle size of Cu Cr oxide catalyst is less than 50 nm, and its specific surface area is as high as 98 6 m 2/g. The catalyst has excellent mobility and lighter apparent density. Of all factors, the pH value during precipitation and Cu/Cr molar ratio as well as ambient atmosphere for thermal decomposition have more remarkable influence on the catalyst activity.
