Objective:To study the distribution of neurons expressing IL 1 RtI mRNA in rat brain. Materials and Methods: IL 1 RtI cDNA was used as a probe to evaluate the expression of IL 1 RtI mRNA in Wistar rat brain by in situ hybridization. Results: The neurons expressing IL 1 RtI mRNA distributed distinctively and widespread in rat brain. According to the density of the neurons containing IL 1 RtI mRNA, the rat brain could be divided into four degrees: very high, high, median, and low density areas. Conclusion: The results suggest that the function of IL 1 may be mediated by the IL 1 type I receptor in the brain.
