This paper presents a review on the progresses of biofilm studies recently, including the development, composition, structure, chemical and physical characteristics, biochemistry, antibiotic resistance of biofilms. In various industrial applications, the benefits of biofilms are in the wastewater treatment. Deleterious effect of biofilms is the erosion of microorganism.
