A random multi access method is presented for data services in IS 95 based CDMA cellular system. Assumed that the number of arriving data packets follows a Poisson distribution, we analyze the throughput and mean delay of data services by means of equilibrium point analysis. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme can support more data users than the traditional cellular system and obtain acceptable mean delay.
