The construction of mu]timodal meaning is an interactive, dynamic and compositional process. The construal of muhimodal metaphors involves cross-domain mapping in which some of the conceptual entities and their domain-specific properties embodied in various modalities of one domain, the source domain, are mapped onto the other, the target domain. This paper, based on the theory of multimodal metaphors, explores the construing process of the muhimodal metaphors in the animated film Lion King(1994) within the framework of Idealized Cognitive Models(ICM) proposed by Lakoff (1987) in an attempt to demonstrate the explanatory power of ICM in construing muhimodal metaphors.
