Brake pad is formed by friction materials and steel back. The friction material decides the require- ments of the safety, comfort, environmental protection. The brake pads product types, performance, formulation, production process technology development status and existing problems and future trends are discussed. Ceramic type friction material is described as emphasis, and the future of friction material is predicted.
