Objective To review systematically the curative effect of Shenmai Injection combining Huangqi Injection on adult viral myocarditis. Methods The databases of PubMed, CENTRAL, Embase, the ISI Web of Knowledge Databases, VIP, CNKI, CBM and WanFang Database were retrieved with computer for collecting randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about the curative effect of Shenmai Injection combining Huangqi Injection on adult viral myoearditis. The included RCTs were given strict reviews and the data was extracted. The RCTs that met the criterion were given Meta-analysis by using RevMan5.1 software. Results There were totally 14 RCTs included. The Meta-analysis showed that the total effective rate was significantly higher in combining group (treated with routine therapy of Western medicine combining Shenmai Injection and Huangqi Injection) than that in routine group (treated with routine therapy of Western medicine) after treatment for 7 to 30 days (OR=4.52, 95%CI: 2.80-7.30, P〈0.001). The occurrence rate of adverse events was lower and the reactions were mild in combining group. Conclusion The routine therapy of Western medicine combining Shenmai Injection and Huangqi Injection has higher curative effect on adult viral myocarditis. Because of the quality of the origin literature included in this study is poor, the intensity of argument in the results is affected. More RCTs with reasonable design, strict performance, multi-center, large scale and sufficient follow-up time are needed for further confirmation.
