Acetoxyethyl bromide was added dropwise into a suspension of sodium Cefuroxime in dimethyl acetamide in the presense of Et 3N at room temperature. Cefuroxime Axetil was obtained in high yield. The structure and purity of the product were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR and HPLC.
