Objective To explore the effects of peer support on compliance of insulin injection in patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM). Methods 110 patients with T2DM were divided into intervention group and control group with 55 patients in each group. The control group was given conventional health education and health education materials while the intervention group was given peer support intervention for 3 months. Questionnaire investigation of the compliance of insulin in- jection, self management behavior change and standard rate of blood glucose were recorded and analyzed respectively before intervention, in one month and three months after intervention. Results Compliance in intervention group was better than that in the control group ( P 〈 0.05 ). Prescribed medication, diet, exercises, self monitoring and diseases recheck in the intervention group were better than that in the control group(P〈0.05). FBG, PG in 2 h, HbAlc in the intervention group were better than those of the control group (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion Peer support guided by diabetic specialist nurses could improve the compliance of insulin treatment and self management, and control the level of blood glucose.
