The Implication for Etymology Teaching from the Perspective of Contrastive Analysis Between Chinese and English

摘要 本文对词汇教学的重要性及目前词汇教学方式进行了深入分析,发现词源教学法是目前最好的词汇教学法。为了能够简化这种复杂的教学方式,文章通过对英汉两种语言对比的方式,对英汉字词的形成过程进行解读。通过对英汉语言中的基本构词元素即前后缀及词根的对比,大量的证据表明了英汉两种语言采用了相似的构词规则。由于英语学习者可以通过汉语构词法来理解英语词源教学法,这就可以极大地降低词源教学的难度。 Through the thorough analysis of the significance of lexical education and current lexical teaching approaches,it can be concluded that Etymology teaching,compared with other methods,is now the best way of lexical teaching. For the purpose of simplifying such complicated methodology,contrastive analysis between Chinese and English has been adopted as a new way of interpreting the process of word formation in both Chinese and English. Via the comparison of the three basic elements of word construction-prefix,suffix and etyma,substantial evidence proves that both languages employ similar rules in building new words. Such comparison would greatly reduce the difficulties in etymology teaching since English learners would understand origins of English words by Chinese word-building.
