This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary ginger powder on antioxidant property of sows and suckling piglets during late gestation and lactation. A 2×2 factorial design was used in this experiment, and setting two feeding periods ( late gestation and lactation) , each feeding period had two ginger powder supplemental levels (0 and 1.0%). The results show that dietary supplemented with ginger powder at late gestation significantly increased superoxide dismutase ( SOD ) activity, total antioxidant capacity ( T-AOC ) and glutathion ( GSH) content in serum of sows ( P〈0.05) , and significantly decreased serum malonaldehyde ( MDA) content ( P〈0.05) . Dietary supplemented with ginger powder at lactation significantly increased SOD activity, T-AOC and GSH content in serum and milk ( P〈0.05) . Dietary supplemented with ginger powder at late gestation and lactation significantly increased serum GSH content of piglets ( P〈0.05) . Dietary supplemen-ted with ginger powder at late gestation and lactation had the best effect on antioxidant property in serum and milk of sows and serum of suckling piglets. In conclusion, dietary supplemented with 1.0% ginger powder at late gestation and lactation can improve antioxidant property of sows and suckling piglets, and there is no interaction between late gestation and lactation, the best effect is supplementation during late gestation and lactation diets at the same time.
