In view of collapse of a balance weight retaining wall, the common damage causes and damage modes of the retaining wall were described, and based on the damage condition of the balance weight retaining wall, analysis was made for each stage of design, construction and post use. In consideration with the unfavorable factors, the collapse causes of retaining wall were determined finally, the distinctiveness of the balance weight retaining wall and the importance of increasing reinforcing body were described.
