Objective: To study the influence of medium-term pregnancy body mass index(BMI) on delivery outcome in pregnant women with diabetes mellitus. Methods: A total of 390 pregnant women with diabetes mellitus, who were given prenatal examinations in People’s Hospital of Penglai from January 2012 to November 2014, were divided into 3 groups according to the medium-term pregnancy BMI level, from low to high: group I(n=119), group II(n=165) and group III(n=106). Followed-up All the elected pregnant women were followed up till delivery to observe their delivery outcomes. Results: There were 24(22.64%) macrosomias and 26(24.53%) polyhydramnioses in group III, which were significantly higher than that in group I and II, the differences were statistically significant(P〈0.05).There were 8(7.55%) hypertensives and 4(3.77%) neonatal asphyxias in group III, which had no statistically significant differences compared with group I and II(P〉0.05). Conclusion: The incidence rates of macrosomia and polyhydramnios in pregnant women with diabetes mellitus, with a higher medium-term pregnancy BMI level, significantly increase, so the BMI level of pregnant women with diabetes mellitus should be properly controlled.
