In common sense,"Yang Qi"means the qi with the function of warming, propelling and inspiring, while"Yin Qi"means the Qi with the function of cooling, restraining and preventing. However,in Inner Canon of Huangdi, those concepts can't make sense in many chapters. In this article, the author holds that in most chapters of the book,Yin and Yang respectively indicates certain locations. Yang means the surface of the human body, the Yang meridian or the six Fu organs, while Yin means the interior of the human body, the Yin meridian or the five Zang organs. Thus,Yang Qi is the Qi distributed in Yang locations and Yin Qi is the Qi distributed in Yin locations.
