Based on two three-span continuous box girder bridges with single column pier that one is single-point support and the other one is double-point support, the finite element models with different radii of the curve and the distances between the supports of the piers at the end of beam were built. The change laws of the minimum reverse force of two kinds of the supports of the piers at the end of beam were studied to analyze the transverse stability against overturning of continuous box girder bridge with single column pier and double-point support and the improvement of double-point support relative to single-point support. The numerical simulation results show that the larger the distance between the supports of the piers at the end of beam, the stronger the transverse stability against overturning of continuous box girder bridge with single column pier and double-point support.Compared with the continuous box girder bridge with single column pier and single-point support, the single column pier continuous box girder bridge with double-point support can largely enhance the transverse stability against overturning. When the radius of the curve and the distance between the supports of the piers at the end of beam is shorter, the effect is more obvious. The rational selection of the single column pier with double-point support and the appropriate increase of the distance between the supports of the piers at the end of beam can greatly increase the transverse stability against overturning of the bridge.
