摘要
唐代的纺织与服饰文化别具一格,唐诗作为当时社会、政治和文化的一种记载形式,文人常将这种文化融入其中,唐诗的英译是向世界传播此类文化的有效途径。文章以美国译者哈里斯的《唐诗三百首》英译本为例,分析唐诗中服装文化的表现形式和功能,探讨英语服装文化的翻译策略。并基于“功能对等”“目的论”等翻译理论及“信”“达”“雅”的翻译原则,对哈里斯译本中处理纺织服饰词汇的策略进行分析。发现其中的策略主要包括:采用典故修辞类词汇、名词术语统一、一词多译、特殊词汇直译与意译借代等。肯定了其译本对中国古典文学海外传播及跨文化交际活动的建设性意义。
The textile and clothing culture in Tang dynasty is unique.Tang poetry was a recording form of society,politics and culture at that time,and literati often incorporated this culture into it.English translation of Tang poetry is an effective way to spread such culture to the world.This paper takes the English translation of Three Hundred Tang Poems by Harris,an American translator,as an example to analyze the expression form and function of clothing culture in Tang poems and discuss the translation strategies of English clothing culture.Based on the translation theories such as"Functional Equivalence"and"Skopos Theory",and the translation principles of"Faith","Fluency"and"Elegance",the strategy for processing textile and clothing vocabulary in Harris’s translation is analyzed.These strategies include:the use of allusion rhetoric vocabulary,the unification of nouns and terms,multiple translations of a word,literal translation and free translation of special vocabulary.The author affirms the constructive significance of Harris’s translation to the overseas spread of Chinese classical literature and cross-cultural communication activities.
