Gastric cancer stem cells(GCSCs)have the potential for unlimited self-renewal,multiple differentiation, initiating tumor growth and metastasis, while the discovery of markers such as CD44,CD133,CD24,and Musashi-1 has revealed new information related to tumor cytological behavior and disease progression.Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection and gastric cancer share common epidemiological features, that the prevalence of Hp infection is higher in the population with a high incidence of gastric cancer, while a higher risk of gastric cancer is observed in Hp antibody-positive populations than in negative populations.Although the relationship between Hp infection and gastric cancer has been established, the mechanism of its early onset and progression in tumorigenesis remains unclear. With the expanding research in the field of tumor stem cell biology, studying the mechanism of Hp-induced gastric carcinogenesis through GCSCs may become an important step in the research on the mechanism of Hp-induced gastric carcinogenesis and provide a new method for the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.
