The prescription compatibility theory is the essence of the prescriptions study. In addition to the traditional principals of assistant prescriptions, compatibility of character and flavor, compatibility of ascending and descending, floating and sinking as well as compatibility of seven emotions balance, modern scholars have also proposed framework compatibility, compositional compatibility, and efficacy compatibility, dosage form replacement compatibility. However,in these existing researches,it is urgently needed to define the connotation and extension of the various concepts such as principles, forms, methods and laws in prescription compatibility theory,so as to further clarify their interrelationships and construct a theoretical framework.Single compatibility theory is relatively one-sided,which is too simple to reflect the characteristics of prescription compatibility and formulating ideas. Therefore,it is necessary to comprehensively use multiple compatibility theories. In addition, most studies only focus on the compositional compatibility of two kinds of drugs. It is an urge to further strengthen the compositional composition analysis of more than three-flavored drugs to clarify the composition of the medicinal materials, thus to better apply the compositional compatibility theory.
