Jewish Americans carry considerable weight in American political life, and are particularly influential in U.S.presidential election. The Jewish community has long been the target of both Democratic and Republican parties and the 2020 election was no exception. In pitching for more votes from Jewish voters,Trump adopted a number of pro-Israel policies. But election results clearly show that he failed to win over moderate and left-wing Jewish voters, that is,the much-talked-about Jexodus didn’t happen.Besides Jewish voters’strong identification with the Democratic Party and liberalism, this paper argues that Trump’s poor handling of COVID-19,rising anti-Semitism,and increasing alienation of Jewish communities from Israel all contributed to the absence of Jexodus in2020.
