摘要
以近代英国出版的一份刊物《海军纪事》(The Naval Chronicle,1799—1818年)为研究对象,讨论了以该期刊为平台的一系列有关海图质量和航海科学的通信。以围绕加斯帕尔海峡和弗里奥角的通信为例,以处于更新过程中的海图,或对航海节点地物经纬度的商议和推算,展现了发表于《海军纪事》上的通信与海图及地理知识进步之间的显著关联。在海洋测绘和海图绘制从近代向现代转型的过程中,除了技术和制度的因素,期刊通信者的角色也需要得到充分肯定。
Taking the English journal The Naval Chronicle(1799—1818)as the research object,we examine the correspondences about quality of chart and nautical science published in this journal We use the correspondences around Gaspar Straits and Cape Frio as cases to show the remarkable correlation among the correspondences published in The Naval Chronicle and the progress of charts and geographical knowledge with charts in the process of updating,or the negotiation and extrapolation of the latitude and longitude of nautical node features In the transition process of marine mapping and chart drawing from modern times to contemporary era,besides technical and institutional factors,the role of periodical correspondences also needs to be fully affirmed.
