The gender ethics narration in British Victorian thrillers was attacked by the early academic circles as an indulgence of moral consciousness, and there was no sacred power to speak of except corrupting the social atmosphere. When the contemporary academic circles reevaluate this type of novel in the irreversible trend of the marginalization of elite literature and the marketization of popular literature, they overturn the previous conclusion. They think that thriller novels reflect this type of novel’s cognition of the ethical relationship between the noble class and the middle class and its evaluation of moral behavior from different levels with different types of gender characters, which embodies Machiavelli’s theory of human nature in humanitarian ethics and the moral evaluation criterion of utilitarian ethics of " good and evil with results". From the perspective of Marxist dialectical materialism and historical materialism, this paper discusses the gender ethics narration of Victorian thrillers. Although this type of novels has some historical limitations, its gender narrative of anti-mainstream ethics has formed a mirror image of literature for people to understand the moral fashion of Victorian era, laid the foundation for the gender ethics narration of contemporary popular novels, and at the same time embodied the utopian spirit of literature for building a harmonious society.
