摘要
19世纪70年代,两部西方全面汉学目录相继问世,即德国人穆麟德等的《汉籍目录便览》与法国人高第的《西人论中国书目》。二者均是由侨居中国、从事实务的西方人编写,因编纂条件、理念等方面的差异而呈现不同面貌。自前作刊前,两书编者间即有争论,此番论争在技术层面之外,也牵扯到学术的国别之争、人的意气之争等非技术因素。本文拟通过追溯两位编者、两部作品的互动,一窥西方汉学目录作品的生成史。
In the 1870 s,two Western sinological bibliographies were published:Manual of Chinese Bibliography by the M?llendorff brothers,and Bibliotheca Sinica by Henri Cordier.Both were compiled by Westerners who had lived and worked in China.These two works showed different features due to the differences in principles of compilation.Before publication,there was a dispute between the editors of the two books.Apart from technical factors,the dispute also involved non-technical factors,such as the disputes related to French and German approaches and personal feelings.By tracing the interactions between the two compilers and the two works,this paper attempts to explore the history of Western sinological bibliographical works.
