摘要
随着低轨(LEO)小卫星星座的发展,将地面网络和LEO网络集成统一为一张网,成为实现全球覆盖一体化网络最有希望的选择。本文首先介绍了LEO星座的发展历程,包括在LEO卫星和LEO星座上早期的尝试;然后,文章讨论了应用LEO星座的独特机遇和挑战,特别是将LEO星座应用到典型5G用例的潜在影响,并给出了关键性能指标,从而为相关设计提供了指导方针;此外,文章详细阐述了地面网络和LEO星座集成的关键技术,并进一步提出了LEO星座所催生的各类垂直领域应用的前景。
With the development of Low Earth Orbit(LEO) constellation, integrating the terrestrial network and LEO satellite network as a common network will be the most promising selection to deal with the problem of global seamless coverage and integration. This paper introduces the development roadmap of LEO satellite constellations, including the overview of early LEO satellites and the state-of-the-art emerging constellations. Then, the opportunities and challenges of LEO constellation for 5 G and beyond has been presented, especially the impact on 5 G+ use cases. And the key performance metrics has been given to provide design guideline. Then, the emphasis of this paper is focused on the discussion of the key technologies of integrating and merging the LEO satellite constellation with terrestrial networks, and the future vision of verticals reshaped by LEO constellation has been presented.
