摘要
20世纪初黑水城遗址出土的西夏文献里有众多的《金刚经》译本,译者是12世纪中叶的西夏僧官鲜卑宝源。他最初译出的是唐代沙门宗密以《傅大士颂金刚经》为基础的注释本,旨在服务于僧侣的考试,后来为方便普通读者受持,他又为夏仁宗的法会准备了一个节略本。这个节略本删除了宗密的科判和傅大士的“颂”,但是保留了傅大士自撰的卷首和章题。现存的西夏文《金刚经》都是节略本,未见古来最流行的鸠摩罗什本为基础的夏译,这反映了佛教著作在流传过程中渐趋简化的倾向。
In the literal monuments excavated from Khara-khoto,there are various Tangut versions of Vajracchedika-sūtra translated by Xianbei Baoyuan,an official monk of Western Xia in the middle of the 12 th century.He first translated a commentary by the Tangs'ramana Zongmi based on the Vajracchedika with Sage Fu's Gāthā,in order to serve the entry examination of monks.Some years later,he prepared another abridged version for Emperor Renzong's dharma ceremony in order to be convenient for the masses to adopt.The commentaries by Zongmi and the gāthās by Sage Fu were removed in the abridged version,but the beginning chapter and paragraph titles added by Fu were retained.All the Tangut version Vajracchedika preserved today are abridged,rather than those based on the most popular translation of Kumārajīva.This fact reflects the tendency of gradually simplifying in the circulation of Buddhist works.
