摘要
莎拉·蒂斯黛尔是20世纪初美国诗坛独具风格的女诗人。她的诗歌继承了维多利亚时代英国诗歌的“夜莺传统”,兼具浪漫主义与唯美主义之特点。她所开创的“恋歌体”别具一格,为她赢得了很高的声望。由于20世纪前期现代主义诗歌在美国兴起,蒂斯黛尔的声望很快被以庞德等为代表的现代主义诗人遮蔽,她也因此被认为是一位“被忽略的”诗人。蒂斯黛尔的诗歌在全世界一直拥有大量的读者,她对中国新诗发轫时期的诗人,特别是对胡适、闻一多等,都产生过显著的影响。一个多世纪以来,国内对蒂斯黛尔诗歌的翻译很不系统,对其诗歌的研究更是近乎空白。本文试图以传记批评的视角全面探索蒂斯黛尔的诗歌创作生涯,兼论她对发轫期中国新诗所产生的影响,及其在中国传播的情况。
Sara Teasdale is an American woman poet of typical characteristics in the early part of the 20th century,and the winner of the First Pulitzer Prize for poetry.Her poetry inherits the“Nightingale Tradition”of English poetry,being characterized by both Romanticism and Aestheticism.The“Love Song”style created by her won her a very high reputation.Due to the rise of modernist poetry of the United States in early 20th century,Teasdale’s reputation was soon overshadowed by the modernist poets represented by Pound and others,and she has been therefore regarded as a“neglected”poet.Teasdale always has a great many readers around the world,and she has an obvious influence upon Chinese New Poetry in its early stage,especially upon Hu Shi,Wen Yiduo and some other poets.However,for more than a century,the translation of Teasdale is not systematic,and the study of her is almost blank.This paper tries to make a comprehensive exploration of Teasdale’s poetic career from the perspective of biographical criticism,and at the same time discuss her influence upon Chinese New Poetry in its beginning stage and also its spread in China.
