Objective: To investigate the values and change tendency of grinding guidance inclination in individuals with group function occlusion. Methods: Measurements were performed on 34 pairs of mounted casts from 17 middleaged persons with group function occlusion(now and 10 years before). The grinding guidance inclination of maxillary posterior teeth was measured in the three-dimensional images of all the casts. Statistical analysis of grinding guidance inclination was performed with Paired-samples T test and Two-way ANOVA. Results: The grinding guidance inclination was significantly different between the different teeth positions(P<0.05). The grinding guidance inclination was significant difference between different subjects(P<0.05). From the first premolar to the second molar, the grinding guidance inclination successive decreased. During the 10-year period, the change of grinding guidance inclination in all subjects was asymmetrical. Conclusions: The successive decrease of the grinding guidance inclination from the first premolar to the second molar could be confirmed. The longitudinal change tendency of the grinding guidance inclination was depended on the individual pattern of masticatory movement.
