Jade dancer pendant sets were jade pendants worn by noble women during the Western and Eastern Han dynasties. They fi rst appeared during the late Warring States period, were further established and developed during the early Western Han,fl ourished during the mid-late Western Han,declined during the Eastern Han,and disappeared during the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties. There are at least two types of combination modes:single-ring and double-ring pendants. The former prevailed during the early Western Han,the latter during the mid-late Western Han through the late Eastern Han.Jade dancer pendent sets, often bundled with jade rings, inherited the stylistic tradition of jade pendants from the Warring States Chu region comprised of rings, heng pendants, and jade dancers. They potentially represent the“ring pendants”mentioned in textual records.
